Dhoni retires from Test cricket !

MS Dhoni has retired from Test cricket with immediate effect following the drawn Test against Australia in MelbourneVirat Kohli will take over as India captain for the final Test of the series, which India have already lost, in Sydney.
Dhoni was batting on 24 when the Test was called off early at the MCG - four overs were left and India had four wickets in hand - and he made no mention of his retirement during the customary captain's press conference at the end of the match. The announcement was made via a BCCI press release shortly after and it cited "the strain of playing all formats" as the reason.
"One of India's greatest Test captains under whose leadership India became the No. 1 team in the test rankings, MS Dhoni, has decided to retire from Test cricket citing the strain of playing all formats of cricket," the board said. "BCCI, while respecting the decision of MS Dhoni to retire from Test cricket, wishes to thank him for his enormous contribution to Test cricket and the laurels that he has brought to India. Virat Kohli will be the captain of the Indian team for the fourth and final Test against Australia to be played in Sydney."
In recent months Dhoni suffered from fitness issues, missing five ODIs against Sri Lanka in November because of a hand injury, which also sidelined him from the first Test against Australia in Adelaide. In addition to the pressure of leading India in all three formats, and the Chennai Super Kings franchise, for six years Dhoni has also had to play an extraordinary amount of matches. Since the start of 2008 - taking into account international matches across formats, IPL and Champions League T20 games - Dhoni has played 398 matches, the most for any cricket during this period. Suresh Raina is second with 369 games.
Though Dhoni's place in India's Test side has not been under question, his batting form took a dip in 2014 and he averaged only 33 in 17 innings this year. His wicketkeeping has also deteriorated, in particular his ability to move laterally to take testing catches. India's overseas results have also suffered under Dhoni's leadership in recent years. Since 2011, they have won only two out of 22 away Tests and lost 13.
Dhoni, however, is India's most successful captain, having presided over 27 wins in his 60-Test tenure, which began in 2008. His first Test as captain was against South Africa in Kanpur in April that year, because of an injury to regular captain Anil Kumble, and he took over full time after Kumble retired following the Delhi Testagainst Australia in October. Dhoni led India to the No. 1 Test ranking in 2009, a position they enjoyed until the tour of England in 2011.
Overall, Dhoni played 90 Tests in a career that began in 2005 and scored 4876 runs at an average of 38, with a high score of 224 against Australia in Chennai in 2013. As a wicketkeeper, he effected 294 dismissals, thefifth highest in Test cricket.

How Anushka became Virat's Lady Luck !

When Anushka Sharma had accompanied Virat Kohli during the tour of England a few months ago, there was much tongue wagging linking her presence to the Team India vice captain's poor form.

Now that Virat has been cracking tons in Australia, people are dubbing her as the Lady Luck of his life. How convenient!

Yes You Heard It Right: Anushka is Virat's wife!

Yes You Heard It Right: Anushka is Virat's wife!
Well in this part of the world all we die hard fans of Cricket and Bollywood may still be struggling to know about the relationship status of Virat and Anushka, but for some the duo are already the soul-mates.

And what made us say so is, one of the goof-ups performed by Australian commentator, Michael Slater, who during his commentary on the final day of the third test between India and Australia at MCG, addressed Anushka as Virat's wife.

However, the ex Aussie cricketer soon realized his mistake soon and hurriedly re-described Anushka as Kohli's 'fiancee'. Wink...

Though Slater performed this pleasing-blunder (obviously for Anushka and Virat), but one can't blame him for this goof -up. That's because it was the body language and gestures of Virat and Anushka, where former blew a kiss towards his lady love cheering him from the stands, which may have confused the Aussie presenter.

In fact, it is not for the first time when Anushka is seen cheering her beau during any match. Even in the past their PDAs up till great extent provided fodder to the gossip mills.

So now with reports pertaining to Virat and Anushka's being with each other getting thicker with every passing day, let's hope that this accidental prophesy of Slater turns into reality soon.

Aamir's 'PK' to not premiere on TV, but why?

Aamir's 'pk' to not premiere on TV, but why?
Aamir Khan's 'pk' may not release on TV, thanks to the ongoing tussle between satellite channels and film producers

An apparent breakdown of dialogue between television channels and film producers has prevented several producers from selling the satellite rights over the past few months. The Aamir Khan-starrer 'pk' is the latest film to join the league. Says a source, "Over the last six months, no satellite deals have been finalised due to a standoff between the channels and the film producers."

Very little buying is currently taking place in the film satellite market as most producers are holding back their rights for not getting a fair amount for their film, the source suggests. "Earlier, the satellite deal used to help recover nearly 40 per cent of the film cost but not anymore," adds the source. 2014 has not been a very good year for the Bollywood box office. A senior member of the satellite market says, "There are producers who are ready to sell their films at a distress price as their films have not made money at the box office.

But there are a number of big ticket films that released this year which have not sold their satellite rights yet as they are not getting their due price. This includes films that have earned Rs 100 crore through a theatre release."

Bigg Boss 8: Salman saved Sonali from getting evicted on the last moment!

Bigg Boss 8: Salman saved Sonali from getting evicted on the last moment!
We have repeatedly quoted that in the history of, Bigg Boss, its 8th edition will be registered as the season full of uncertainty. And that's because this season of Bigg Boss has some of the most adored children of destiny like Upen Patel, Sonal Raut et al who despite being some of the weakest contenders of the show have managed to survive in the house uptill the 15th week.

Earlier it was Upen who had a miraculous escape a couple of weeks ago, when Diandra was evicted from the house. This time it's Sonali Raut, who has reportedly returned to the house from the verge of the doorsteps, hence leading to no eviction this week.

And if reports are to be believed then it's none other than Dabangg of Bollywood Salman who is behind this narrow escape of Sonali.

If reports pertaining to this week's eviction are to be believed, then as per votes it was Sonali who was suppose to say good bye to the show. But then it was Salman who emerged as a Knight in The Shining Armour for Sonali and saved her from getting evicted on pretext of his birthday. While unveiling his wish to the makers Salman stated that, "it is his birthday week and he doesn't want anyone to be evicted".

And to fulfill the desire of Salman makers literally flipped their entire plan.

As per the earlier plan makers decided that, this Monday Salman will enter the house to celebrate his birthday with the inmates and after cutting the cake will bring out Sonali along with him. But at the last moment Salman exhibited his wish to the makers of not evicting anyone this week.

Though the makers were in a state of dilemma about fulfilling Salman's wish, but eventually decided to go ahead with Bhaai's desire and spared Sonali from getting evicted this week.

Now with this latest news of Sonali's getting saved, another buzz has surfaced in the grapevine stating that this week there is another surprise on hold for the contestants under which a triple eviction may take place in a few days. So till the time another unexpected comes knocking your door keep yourself glued to the Bigg Boss!

Big Twist: 'Bigg Boss 8' to have two winners?

Probably in the history of Bigg Boss its season 8 will be registered as the edition full of twists, unpredictability, uncertainty and weird gimmicks of contestants as well as the makers.

After astounding the masses with some of the absurd TRP boosting gambits in the recent past, now the makers of Bigg Boss re once again all set to surprise the viewers by their another stratagem. If reports are to be believed then this time this controversial reality show is expected to have two winners instead of one.

Earlier the Bigg Boss was expected to end on 4th of January, but keeping in view the boost in the TRP in the recent past makers decided to extend it for another couple of days.

If reports are something to go by then they suggest that in order to introduce this spin makers have adopted a unique tactic called "Halla Bol", where ex-contestants (of previous seasons) will enter in the house to make residing inmates' life miserable. So far the names which have surfaced in the grapevine are those of Rahul Mahajan, Sambhavna Seth, Ajaz Khan and Mahek Chahal.

The fact which has further added credibility to our report is one of the promos which makers have just unveiled showcasing the extended spin off featuring the aforementioned contestants.

Besides howls of a scandalmongers fox unveils that in order to make this edition of Bigg Boss even more spicy, makers are also in talk with rowdy contestants like, Dolly Bindra and Imam Siddiqui who are yet to give their affirmation about the possibilities of their participation.

Average Indian to spend Rs 10,000 on e-commerce in 2015: Study

The average annual spending of Indians on online purchases is expected to rise 67% to Rs 10,000 next year, according to a study. Currently, online shoppers spend around Rs 6,000 a year on average, said the Assocham-PwC study.

About 40 million consumers purchased something online this year and the number is expected to grow to 65 million by 2015 with better infrastructure in terms of logistics, broadband and internet-ready devices. The overall e-commerce industry, valued at $17 billion, has been growing at a compounded annual growth rate of about 35% each year, the study said, adding that it is expected to cross the $100 billion mark in five years.

In 2014, the sector attracted the attention of investors, including top global firms and leading Indian industry leaders like Azim Premji and Ratan Tata, said the study, adding that brands like Flipkart and Snapdeal are enjoying edge over global players like Amazon in the country. Online apparel sales continue to capture a greater share of India retail ecommerce as a category along with the computer and consumer electronics sector, fuelling the overall market growth.

"The smartphone and tablet shoppers will be strong growth drivers. Mobile phones already account for 11% of e-commerce sales, and their share will jump to 25% by 2017," Assocham secretary general DS Rawat said. Computer and consumer electronics, along with apparel and accessories, account for the bulk of India's retail ecommerce sales. These will contribute 42% of the total retail e-commerce sales in 2015 from the current level of 39%, said the study.

India's travel and tourism are second fastest growing travel and tourism industry in the world. Nearly 75% of total travel related business has migrated to e-commerce. With nearly one-third of internet users already making purchases online, the ecommerce growth will rely more on increased spending from existing buyers than first-time online buyers, it said.

Other factors contributing to the growth of e-commerce include aggressive merchandising and discounting from flash sales and daily deals, more online loyalty programmes and increasing popularity of smartphones and tablet computers among consumers, the study added. The industry is expected to spend an additional $500 million to $1 billion on logistics functions, leading to a cumulative spend of $950 million to $1.9 billion till 2017-20, it said.

Currently, over 25,000 people are employed in e-retailing warehousing and logistics. It is estimated that there will be an additional employment of close to 1,00,000 people in these two functions alone by 2017-20, the study said
