Fukrey actor Ashraful Haque passes away in Mumbai

Delhi Belly and Fukrey actor Ashraful Haque passed away at Sunita Hospital in Andheri East in Mumabi on Tuesday. He was 46.

Haque was suffering from bone marrow cancer and was going through intensive treatment.

His condition deteriorated recently and he was put on ventilator.

The actor, who started his career with a critically acclaimed film, Behrupiya, has performed in more than 30 Indian plays and acted in over approximately 30 films apart from his Telly Serials and Ad films.

Haque graduated from National School of Drama, New Delhi in Dramatics with specialization in Acting in 1997.

He acted in movies like Company, Jungle, Dil Kya Kare, Calcutta Mail, Deewaar, Black Friday, Delhi Belly, Paan Singh tomar. 

Haque is survived by his wife and a son.

'NH10' Anushka Sharma has been doing the rounds of a suburban hospital due to recurring back pain

Hectic shoot schedules and promotions for her maiden production venture, 'NH10', seem to have taken a toll on Anushka Sharma's health. Industry insiders have been whispering about the actress' back problems that have forced her to seek medical help.

A source close to Anushka says, "It is true that she has been experiencing some serious pain in her lower back. She has been travelling a lot of late, before which she had been shooting for her films without a break. All this could have led to the back problem. Though her doctor has advised her complete bed rest for a week, promotions for her upcoming film have prevented her from doing so. Therefore, the minimum that she can do is go for physiotherapy at regular intervals at a hospital close to her house."

A source at the suburban hospital confirms the buzz, adding: "Anushka has been coming here for physiotherapy sessions for her back problems. She has been struggling with the pain for quite some time now. A few months ago, her boyfriend and cricketer Virat Kohli had accompanied her to the hospital."

Anushka, too, admits to be having trouble with her back. "While shooting for 'NH10', I had to run a lot on uneven ground which triggered the problem. I am seeking physiotherapy help for the same," she says.

1.The AIB Knockout video has been taken down. While we'd love to claim that it's because so many people watched it that it broke YouTube, the truth's a little sadder.

2.No one person or force forced us to take this video down...under the circumstances, this is us being pragmatic.

3.AIB Knockout was another such attempt to try something new and bring the roast format to a country where celebrities aren't often known to laugh at themselves.

4.The format was the same as any international roast ie insult comedy, delivered in the form of one-liners designed to be as rude as possible. It is performed with the understanding that none of the material is meant to be taken seriously.

5.With the Knockout, in our own juvenile, idiotic way,  we wanted to push the envelope of comedy in this country. But then the envelope pushed back.

After narrowly escaping death (well, OK, not really, but a lot of people sure tried to convince us of it), the PC industry is regaining some color in its face, and starting to make some bold moves forward. Yes, the road ahead will be challenging, and nobody’s expecting any kind of magical return to the glory days, but at least we can all now agree that there is indeed a road ahead.

Timed perfectly in conjunction with this sense of rebirth are the release of arguably some of the most innovative PC designs we’ve seen in a long time (and I’m not even counting the widely expected new version of Apple’s MacBook Air). Yes, I’m going to say it—PCs are starting to look sexy again.

Most of the attention is rightfully focused on notebooks, but before I go there, I do want to make a quick shout out to HP’s Sprout desktop system. Even now, several months after its surprise launch, Sprout stands out as a remarkably innovative reimagining of what a PC can be and what it can do. It’s not the kind of product that will sell in big numbers—and to be fair, the first version has a few limitations that I’m sure HP will address in future iterations—but Sprout has broken the mold on traditional PC designs. In so doing, it has given consumers—and the tech industry—a vision of where personal computing could go in the future. I think it deserves a tremendous amount of credit for doing so.

On the notebook side, the innovation has arguably been more of a continuous evolution, but the end result is a set of products that are remarkably cool and undeniably sexy. (When’s the last time you’ve been able to say that about a PC?) Dell’s new XPS13, for example, wraps together a magnificent, nearly bezel-free, ultra high-resolution 5 Megapixel screen (on some models) with an ultraslim, lightweight 2.8-pound body (2.6-pound on standard HD screen models) into a machine that is the first to really deserve the title “ultrabook.” Leveraging Intel’s new 14 nm Broadwell architecture design, the XPS13 features great performance and a stated 11+ hours of battery life with the high-resolution display. Best of all, it’s a 13” notebook packed into an 11”-size package that looks cool to carry around.

Not to be outdone, Lenovo has put together a wide range of innovative designs, leveraging both their ThinkPad heritage as well as their groundbreaking swivel screen Yoga products. My personal favorite is the 14” ThinkPad Carbon X1—which, like the XPS13, has been through several iterations. The latest version of this 2.9-pound device has been refined not only with performance and battery life boost from the addition of Intel’s fifth-generation Core-based CPUs and Broadwell architecture, but also comes with an improved touchpad. This is a classic design now taken to the nth degree.

For those who prefer the full wrap-around capabilities of their popular Yoga designs, Lenovo’s Yoga Pro 3 features a cool watchband-like hinge in a half-inch thick, 13.3” design that offers a similar resolution 5 Megapixel screen to Dell’s XPS13. At 2.8 pounds, the company claims the Yoga Pro 3 is the lightest 2-in-1 available on the market. Having checked it out on several occasions, I can tell you it’s a very lightweight, impressive machine.

As light as the Yoga Pro 3 may be, however, it’s not the lightest notebook on the market. That honor now belongs to another Lenovo machine—the LaVie Z, a 13.3” notebook that in its 180°-swivel design comes in at an incredible 1.7 pounds. Designed by NEC of Japan (which was purchased by Lenovo in 2011), the LaVie Z is built from a special magnesium-lithium alloy that not only makes it lightweight, but keeps the machine rigid.

In addition to these more mainstream designs, there’s also been PC innovations in more specialized areas. Microsoft’s HoloLens is, of course, one impressive example, but even in the field of education I’ve seen some interesting designs that have flown under the radar. One is Panasonic’s 3E, which in addition to offering a ruggedized, more kid-proof design in a 2-in-1 detachable device, adds a clever magnifying lens to the standard webcam, turning it into a mobile microscope for kids to explore the world.

Taken together, these devices, and many others like them, offer a surprisingly robust set of new PC choices that should make even the most jaded individuals take a second look at new PCs. Some might argue that these are nothing more than a collection of incremental changes, but it’s this combination of improvements that really do make the difference. Just as people who haven’t seen friends or relatives in several years suddenly notice a big change when they see them again, people who have been living with old PCs and haven’t really seen what new options are available are bound to be impressed. Most of these new PCs leverage the kind of technologies that people have wanted in their notebooks for a long time: fast, reliable SSDs (solid state drives) leveraging flash memory technology; beautiful high-resolution displays; and even the often-overlooked but critically important large touchpads. They’re the kind of PCs we dreamt about having several years ago and now they’re actually here.

Yes, it’s easy to get cynical about the PC market and how it often felt like it was looking backward instead of moving forward. But seeing the kind of innovation that is now coming out of an industry that many had given up for dead, you can’t help but be impressed.

Mystery Revealed: Why Pritam opted not to compete with Gautam?

Radio jockey Pritam Singh, who exited the popular reality show "Bigg Boss Halla Bol" by taking Rs.25 lakh, says it was a wise step for him to leave the show on the grand finale as he was confidant about his defeat.

His co-contestant Gautam Gulati was declared the winner of the spin-off of "Bigg Boss 8" Sunday with Karishma Tanna finishing as the first runner-up. Pritam stood third in the competition. 

"I could not be overconfident about myself. Gautam was stronger than me and he had a great fan following outside. The youth was supporting him. So because of that thing, I knew it already that he will be the winner," Pritam told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

"But I'm happy that I managed to come so far in the show. Winning or losing it doesn't matter as the show will help me in building my future," he added. 

Pritam was the favourite of most of the former contestants and audience because of his calm image inside the "Bigg Boss" house. Later, he became popular for his association with the P3G group, which also included Puneet Issar, Praneet Bhat and Gautam.

Talking about his four months' stay in the show, Pritam said: "The contestants, who were there had some bad experience with me. But still I was there in the last three and I'm happy with that. I showed my anger in bits and pieces only, like during the tasks."

"Also I've learned a lot from the show. 'Bigg Boss' has given me recognition."

Talking about his gang P3G, he added: "P3G rocks and it will continue to rock. We will continue our friendship with each other in future. P3G was entertaining the viewers at each and every point. That's why the group lasted for long."

Post "Bigg Boss", Pritam is planning a family vacation and says he'd love to do more shows on TV.

Missed Call From A Mystery Number? Be Careful.

The scam, simplified: They call you, but immediately hang up. You see a missed call. You call back. They charge you for the call, and for each minute they can keep you on the line.

According to the BBB, this so-called “One Ring” scam is on the rise.

Like many a ruse, this one relies on hitting many, many potential targets at once. The scammer sets up a computer to call thousands of numbers per hour — because for every 99 people who follow their gut and don’t call weird numbers, there’s 1 person who will. Maybe they’re waiting for response on a job interview, and don’t know what number it’ll come from. Maybe they’re hoping it’s that girl from the bar last night. Maybe the number just looks kind of familiar. It’s all about making mass sweeps and finding the exceptions.

The trick? They only let the call ring once before it automatically hangs up. One ring is enough for the number to show up on your missed call screen, but just short enough that you’re not likely to answer it in time (which keeps the call from fully connecting and thus keeps the scammer from having to front for any long distance fees.)

Speaking of long distance fees: the number it’s dialing from is, generally, one from outside of the US — but one that has the same country code (+1, which we share with Canada and almost all of the Caribbean nations, from the Bahamas to Jamaica), and thus looks a whole lotlike a US number. On US premium numbers, the FTC requires the caller to explicitly agree to charges. On international numbers, the FTC has no jurisdiction.

We’ve seen tricks like this before, using many of the same basic concepts —the sneaky international number, the hook to get you to call it back. A few years ago, a common scam technique was to text someone saying “Your [relative here] is hurt, and you are the emergency contact! Call [sneaky international number here] for more information.”

But this is the first time I’ve seen them boil it down to a simple missed call. It plays on the ubiquity of smartphones, and that… no one really calls each other anymore. If someone is calling, it’s probably important, right? Better call’em back!

While reports on scams like this tend to warn you that you’ll be charged a zillion dollars per second, that’s… usually not the case, in reality. Carriers will often void the charges if they/you catch them, so the scammer’s goal is often to keep anyone from noticing the charge. They’ll charge you a few bucks to establish the call, then a few bucks for each minute they keep you on hold/on the line.

But even if they charge you nothing, there are other reasons not to call’em back:

• Once you’ve called back, they know there’s a human on the other end of that number. It’s like hitting “unsubscribe” on a mass email — if the sender is a good guy, you’re unsubscribed. If they’re a spammer, you’ve just verified that its a legit inbox and have been signed up for a million more mailing lists.
• Once a scammer has a caller on the line, it’s an opportunity to phish. If a person is open to dialing a mystery number, why not see if they’ll believe you work for their bank and need their credentials?

How To Avoid Gettin’ Scammed:

• If you don’t recognize a number, don’t call’em back.
• If you really want to call back, Google the number first. Check the area code to make sure it’s not long-distance. Check the full number, too; in many cases, you’ll find a page full of results saying “Do not call! It’s a scam!”
• If you’re an Android fan, try to get on a device running Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a built-in number identification system, and it works quite well for at least identifying legitimate, non-scammy phone numbers as safe to call.
• Check your phone bill for sketchy charges. Your carrier knows aaaall about scams like this, and will generally reverse the charge if you complain
